Dual Receiver -322

by MamaTech

Two independently controlled Dish Network Systems for the price of one.

When my husband and built our house we designed every room to be wired. Needless to say, that got all screwed up. We have two coax connections in each room, but still have to rewire everytime we want to add cable or satelite to a room. We decided to bite the bullet and buy another receiver to have satelite access in the master bedroom. We had used UHF signal projecting devices up until now. It worked unless you were on a cordless phone or used a microwave. I saw a 322 dish network receiver on line and bought it for $99. It was brand new and half the price of getting a new receiver from a local satelite vendor. This thing is great. It can control to TVs independently. Dish only charges us for one receiver, so we escaped an extra $5 a month charge. Now we had to have Dish send out a tech for $99, but they were able to use the spaghetti in our walls and wire it to the two rooms. The total solution is about $200 but it is worth it. If you do buy a satelite receiver online, make sure it has a zero balance. Otherwise, you are responsible for paying that before you can use the receiver. Four of Five stars: .

Electric Miter Saw - No More Tears

by Mama Depot

Have you ever wanted to add decorative molding or make a frame only to be thwarted by your own incompetence.

How many of you out there bought one of those plastic miter boxes? I have one. I use it now as a pedestal. I just do not have the patience, strength or time to manual saw those corners. Moreover, the times that I have tried have made for some crooked seams. No more misery... I have purchased a Ryobi 10" compound miter saw. It is wonderful. The guides help to position molding for perfect cuts. The motor is powerful and requires little effort to make all kind of cuts. It even has a bag attachment to catch dust from the cuts. This Ryobi is fabulous.

POLITICS IN REVIEW - DINNER TABLE DRAMA

I hope this just does not get ugly.

by Mama in the Middle

I alright I will admit it. In the past I wanted my garage cleaned out or my lawn cut and I did not ask too many questions.

I am a Busy Mama with a busy family. The time we get to spend alone without pagers or cell phones is precious. So I do not want my husband cutting grass when we could be barbequeing or enjoying our little ones. It's selfish. In the past, I just did not ask to many questions. I guess we are a part of the problem. My motivation has always been to get the job done right, quickly and cheaply. I have had friends who only want American labor only to be stuck with a badly cut lawn, weeds or no shows.

After seeing the protests, I got mad. Seeing folks demand right that they do not have makes me mad. I am sure that it the economy where any these people are from, Canada, Sweden, Hati was as good as America they could find Busy or (lazy homeowners) like myself. If there economies were as good as the US, I do not think that 90% of the aliens would be here and these demonstrations would definitely not be occuring. My fear is that these demonstrations are going to get ugly. I am not ready for cnn showing wall to wall riots in our cities.

I have no solution to the problem. It seems a daunting task to send them all back, but it also seems to be stirring intense dissatisfaction within the immigrant communities for them to stay. I simply do not know what should be done. If believe if it get violent, that we should ship everyone out, including the Americans who are facilitating violence.

I pray that the situation stays peaceful. I know that from now on I will ask more questions and not given in to the appeal of cheap dependable labor.

Mistakes that One Makes with Money III

by Fiasco Mama

According to Suze Orman, one of the biggest mistakes that one can do is borrowing using an interest-only variable rate mortgage to buy property.

If the only way you can buy a home is to take out an interest-only loan with a low initial teaser rate, then you can't afford that home. And the ultimate bad housing move is to use an Option Adjustable Rate Mortgage that allows you to set a very low payment during the start of the loan that might not even cover your interest costs. If you fall for that trap, you will have a "negative amortization loan." Instead of your loan balance becoming incrementally smaller with each monthly payment, it will actually rise because the lender just shovels the "unpaid" interest onto the balance of the loan. Paying just the interest initially on the mortgage only means that you will need to eventually repay the principal at an accelerated pace. If you have a 30-year loan and you don't pay principal for 10 years, you will then have to repay the entire principal in the final 20 years of the mortgage. And don't fall for the lender's pitch that you will have more income to handle the increase once the principal is due, or that you can refinance. If your career takes an unexpected dip, perhaps your income won't grow as fast as you need it to. And refinancing isn't easy if interest rates increase, or property gains have slowed so you don't have much equity built up. There's no guarantee that you'll be able to handle the higher payments.

TRENDS IN REVIEW - FASHIONABLE MOMMA

New Black

by Hot Mama

What is the new black this year? What ever it is I hope it is opaque enough to hide my thunder thighs.

What is hot when you are trying to maintain your sanity. With this year I am firmly into my mid thirties. I should spend more time on my appearance. I should try to be more trendy. How do you figure out what is more trendy? If you currently shop at TJ Max which typically has last years fashions, will you even find the "New Black." Does Wal-Mart designers follow trends or are they too busy importing items to pay attention. I actually watched one of those catty fashion reviews who dished about what the stars where wearing at a recent award ceremony. My only take away is that women are not wearing necklaces and showing neck. I can do that. I do that now, but I do not think people think that I am a fashion diva. Hopefully, spilled formula does not show up to badly on it.
