Being a Fix-it Mama can save you time and money! After implementing these tips and tricks you will have a sense of pride and security in the finished product because-YOU DID IT YOURSELF!
Below you will find five (5) easy suggestions to help you get organized, maintain your home, and repair broken things around the house.
1. Be Sharp from the Waist Down. When your or your spouses’ belts ware out do not simply throw it away rather, cut off a side or two-leaving about 6 inches and glue it to a wood or cardboard strip a bit larger and use it to sharpen knives and other bladed items.
2. Tweeze Please, when hanging pictures or shelves use tweezers to hold the nail. This way, you prevent any pain and suffering from the hammer hitting your freshly manicured fingers. Now you can hammer and nail in happiness.
3. Don’t bag your bag! Ever lost the strap of your favorite purse and figured that it was doomed for the dumpster? Well, your favorite purse can have new life with these easy steps. If your handle has broken from the ring simply:
• Cut off the damaged part.
• Line up the edges of the strap.
• Fold the strap over forming a loop.
• Punch a hole through the loop (and the flat part of the strap) using an awl.
• Loop the strap back around the purse ring (make sure the shorter part is facing inward).
• Place a split rivet through the hole (the splits should be facing inward).
• Slide a washer over the rivet.
• Brace your bag (a vise is suggested but a child and/or a spouse should work just fine).
• Hammer the prongs flat against the washer.
Now you have more wear from your bag.
4. AIR BALL-Does it seem as if you should add balls as a line item in your monthly budget due to balls leaking air and going flat? Well, this tip will save you money and the hassle of having to purchase balls for your family. First, immerse the ball into water until you find the hole (you will know where the hole is located when you site air bubbles). Next, dry the area and mark the place, you can use a writing utensil or tape. Third, heat the blade of a screwdriver. After that, rub the screwdriver over the marked area until the vinyl melts and let it dry for 5 minutes. Finally, inflate and PLAY BALL!
5. Did you make that Task (bar) Disappear? If you are searching for your Windows taskbar move the mouse around the edges of the monitor until you see a double headed arrow. Once you spot the two-headed arrow, left-click and drag the arrow away from the edge of the screen until you see the taskbar. To move the taskbar, left-click and drag on a blank area of it and position it on whichever side of the monitor your heart desires. In more recent versions of Windows you can lock your taskbar so it will not move around anymore.
Easy fix-its by a busy mom. Now don’t you feel good?
