Buy the Right Foundation
by: Beauty Mama
It is okay to spend a few extra dollars to get the right shade of foundation.
Foundation gives a finish to the face. The wrong foundation will make you look ashy, old or dated. Foundation should be as close to your own skin color as possible. It should not... I SHOUT AGAIN. It should not be visible. It should simply even out your own skin tone, hiding dark or light spots and even blemishes. When choosing foundation, test the shade on your jaw or neck, not the back of your hand. Sometimes there can be a huge coloring or texture difference in the skin on the hand and the skin on the face, the place you are trying to cover with foundation.
Also, make sure that you look at the color in natural light. Natural light will reveal the true colour. Halogen and flourescents may give off tones that do not exist in the reality of daylight.
I do not know about you but my skin shade shades a little bit with the seasons. I definitely have more red in my cheeks in summer than winter. If my complexion changes, why then do I keep the same foundation. I do not. I change with the seasons. You should to. .
If you cannot find the right shade you can mix foundations as long as it is all from the same brand. Different brands have different chemistries which may or may not mix and different wear properties. No need to peal because of ignorance or just being cheap.
I suggest that mix a darker tone above your color and a lighter tone than your color to experiment with finding the right shade for the right season.
