What happen to all the church hats

Maybe I am getting old, but I can remember when women came to church in beautiful hats matching their outfits.

Where have they gone? Have we become to casual? I miss the parade of wide color brims bowing in pray. Have we progressed so that our casual jeans have chased away a beautiful tradition?

I want to return to a simpler time, when sisters dressed for church and mothers made everyone go. There was a stately manner to our women then. Our young had deep respect for those hats. Obedience would descend upon all within sighting of the hats of Sister Williams or Mother Hatney rounding the corner.

I just picked up a straw hat with a fine green ribbon embellishment. I cannot wait to wear it with my matching spring green suit. All I need is matching shoes.
