Dual Receiver -322

by MamaTech

Two independently controlled Dish Network Systems for the price of one.

When my husband and built our house we designed every room to be wired. Needless to say, that got all screwed up. We have two coax connections in each room, but still have to rewire everytime we want to add cable or satelite to a room. We decided to bite the bullet and buy another receiver to have satelite access in the master bedroom. We had used UHF signal projecting devices up until now. It worked unless you were on a cordless phone or used a microwave. I saw a 322 dish network receiver on line and bought it for $99. It was brand new and half the price of getting a new receiver from a local satelite vendor. This thing is great. It can control to TVs independently. Dish only charges us for one receiver, so we escaped an extra $5 a month charge. Now we had to have Dish send out a tech for $99, but they were able to use the spaghetti in our walls and wire it to the two rooms. The total solution is about $200 but it is worth it. If you do buy a satelite receiver online, make sure it has a zero balance. Otherwise, you are responsible for paying that before you can use the receiver. Four of Five stars: .

TIMESAVING GADGET REVIEW

The MayTag H20 is Amazing

by Mama Gadget

When my GE refrigerator broke again after 4 years of service, I was determined to find a real solution.

We bought our high GE refrigerator I thought we were living high on the hog. It was one of those side by sides that was all the rage. Only 3 years into the purchase and the ice maker broke. Two hundred and fifty dollars later the bloom was definitely off the rose. I have come to realize that the "Side by side" feature means no pizza or large pans can fit. When the darn thing six months later starts freezing the baby's milk in the refrigerator and has another problem with the ice maker , it had to go.

I was determined to find the largest fridge that my husband's money could buy. I looked at the new versions of side buy sides and just shuttered. I really like the water and ice on the door, but I will not have another side by side in my house. I even looked at the new fancy computerized models with the tv screens or the change the sections from a fridge to freezer at will. I avoided that temptation and the easy credit finance plans. That new Samsung at Best Buy is over $3000. That is too much.

I ended up going to Home Depot and was sold on the new Maytag H20. I get water and ice on the door, but it is no side by side. It's huge on the inside. I can fit the crock from my 6qt slow cooker, a pan of eggplant parmesian, a deli tray and host of other things. I could have never fit this amount in my old GE unless I kept the door open. The deep freezer is wonderful too. It is everything a growing family needs including room for pizza.

POLITICS IN REVIEW - DINNER TABLE DRAMA

Stand by Your Man! Do Not Cry!

by Momma to the Right

Why is everyone is making such a big deal over Samuel Alito"s wife crying during the hearings.

While I do admit to being a follower of the -never let them see you cry- group since those early days of tauntings on the school grounds, I can empathize with her. Attack me and I can deal with it. Attack someone I love and a whole range of emotions will come out from tearful grief to spitting anger. Finally an unscripted moment in a senatorial hearing.

Mistakes that One Makes with Money II

by Fiasco Mama

According to Suze Orman, one of the biggest mistakes that one can do is borrowing using a Home Equity Line Of Credit (HELOC) to pay off credit card bills

This is a move that can end up costing you your home. Your credit card debt is what's known as unsecured debt: There's no collateral the credit card issuer can force you to sell to collect on your debt. A HELOC - like a mortgage and a home-equity loan - is what's known as secured debt. Your home - or more specifically, your home equity - is the collateral. If you fall far enough behind on your HELOC payments, the lender can require you to sell the home to recoup the money you borrowed. Besides, the HELOC just creates more unpaid debt:many people wipe out their credit card debt by rolling it over into a HELOC - and then run up new credit card balances again. This puts them in a bigger fix: In addition to the new credit card debt they now also have the HELOC debt to deal with. You also need to be doubly careful with HELOCs in today's rising interest rate environment. In 2005, the average HELOC rate jumped from 5.62% to 7.25%.Today that rate is above 9 percent. If you took out a $25,000 HELOC in 2005, the monthly interest payments-which is typically all you pay during the initial "draw period"-have jumped from about $117 to more than $192; that's $900 more a year.

TRENDS IN REVIEW - FASHIONABLE MOMMA

New Black

by Hot Mama

What is the new black this year? What ever it is I hope it is opaque enough to hide my thunder thighs.

What is hot when you are trying to maintain your sanity. With this year I am firmly into my mid thirties. I should spend more time on my appearance. I should try to be more trendy. How do you figure out what is more trendy? If you currently shop at TJ Max which typically has last years fashions, will you even find the "New Black." Does Wal-Mart designers follow trends or are they too busy importing items to pay attention. I actually watched one of those catty fashion reviews who dished about what the stars where wearing at a recent award ceremony. My only take away is that women are not wearing necklaces and showing neck. I can do that. I do that now, but I do not think people think that I am a fashion diva. Hopefully, spilled formula does not show up to badly on it.
